Staying safe with anonymous messages: a SASG safety guide

What's visible to whom, what hints reveal, and what to do about unwanted messages — for SASG users and the parents of teens who use it.

Anonymous apps are fun because they lower the stakes of saying something nice. The same anonymity can be misused. SASG is designed to keep things light: senders can only send a song and a short note, and you control everything that reaches your page. Here's exactly how it works.

What other people can see

  • Your public page (anyone with your link): display name, photo, prompt, bio, favorite song, any link buttons or photos you added, your “last seen” time, and songs you chose to feature.
  • Your inbox (only you): every song sent to you, notes, hints and profile views.
  • A sender's private link (only the sender): the song they sent, their note, and your reply if you wrote one.

What a hint reveals — and what it doesn't

A hint shows the device category (for example “iPhone” or “Android phone”), a rough location based on the sender's internet connection, and whether they were signed in to SASG. The location is approximate by design: it's derived from the network, often points to a regional hub, and is shifted slightly before it's stored. SASG does not collect GPS location, contacts, phone numbers or names from senders, and never shows a sender's IP address.

If you get something unwanted

  1. Delete it. Deleting a song removes it permanently.
  2. Block the sender. In the hint panel, choose Block. Future songs from that browser or account are hidden from your inbox.
  3. Report it. Use Report in the same panel, or email us (see Contact). Include the date and time it arrived.
  4. Take a break. Remove the link from your story or bio. Nothing new can arrive if nobody has your link — and you can always delete your account.

If a message includes a threat of violence or self-harm, contact local emergency services or a trusted adult first. Then report it to us.

Keep your page safe

  • Don't put your phone number, address, school schedule or other personal details in your bio or link buttons.
  • Use a password you don't use anywhere else. SASG doesn't ask for an email, so there's no reset-by-email — write your password down somewhere safe.
  • Log out on shared devices. Each device you log in from has its own session.

For parents

SASG is for people 13 and older. It has no direct messaging between users, no public comments, and no friend lists: the only thing a stranger can do is send a song and a 100-character note, which only the account owner sees. Account owners can delete everything at any time. If you're worried about something your child received, the steps above apply — and you can contact us directly.

What we do

Sending is rate-limited to stop spam floods, notes are capped at 100 characters, and accounts that harass people are removed. We respond to valid legal requests as described in our privacy policy.
